Tea Ceremony

Zen tea ceremonies gained popularity during the Muromachi Period (1333 - 1573). Tea drinking parties became popular in which participants showed off their exquisite tea bowls and displayed their knowledge about tea. The father of modern way tea drinking was Sen no Rikyu (1522-1591) who advocated an austere, rustic simplicity.

The inspiration for Kuro Neko came from years of traveling and collecting various antique pieces that needed a home. By design, the space is meant to be transitional to incorporate the various types of services that we provide.
